Quest for top equity investments

In the semifinals, the winning companies are the ones that have stock price catalysts that are likely to trigger moves in the next couple of quarters. In addition, the catalysts are expected to be strong enough to make the stock outperform for a year or longer.
There were some very tough contests in the first 7 of 13 semifinal match-ups and only 5 of the 15 stocks survived to reach the finals.
Semifinals – Solid Growth (15 -> 5):
1 Dometic vs Pierer Mobility: Dometic wins on higher organic growth for longer plus M&A leverage via new product categories
2 Hellofresh vs Zalando: HFG did a great job of fully taking advantage of lockdowns and their expansion strategy promises more catalysts down the road, but a post-covid reopening pause is overdue, while ZAL is the prime European target for globl online players
3 Acomo vs Baywa vs DSV: Acomo wins as they are likely to surprise with their large new acquisition in the US, Baywa out as catalysts developing slower, DSV out as catalysts not strong enough given already high valuation
4 Basler vs SMA Solar: no winner, both on good growth trajectory, good insider activity at SMA, but catalysts are not as clear as some other candidates in this semifinal, therefore both out
5 ALK-Abello vs Arjo: ALK wins due its piepline optionality on top of already profitable growth
6 Adesso vs GK Software: Adesso wins due to stronger shorter term catalysts showing accelerating operating leverage, while GKS could well outperform longer term
7 Init vs Lagercrantz: no winner, Lagercrantz out as catalysts in sum not as strong as others, Init (a 2020 champion) out as 2021 other candidates with better catalysts
Therefore, our finalists from the "Solid Growth" category will be Dometic/SWE (caravan equipment), Zalando/D (online fashion), Acomo/NL (soft commodities), ALK-Abello/DK (allergy drugs) and Adesso/D (IT services).
